Porsche takes the lead in the sports car world championship
Stuttgart. After clinching two class wins at the Le Mans 24 Hours last weekend, Porsche has taken over the lead in all GT categories of the sports car World Endurance Championship WEC. In the classification of the World Endurance Cup for manufacturers, Porsche ranks first ahead of Ferrari and Aston Martin. In the drivers’ championship, Porsche works drivers Marc Lieb (Germany), Richard Lietz (Austria) and Romain Dumas (France) have moved into the lead after winning the GTE-Pro class at the long distance classic in France with the new Porsche 911 RSR. At the top of the team classification of this class sits Porsche AG Team Manthey which had fielded the winning 911.In the FIA Endurance Trophy for drivers in the GTE-Am class, Porsche pilots Jean-Karl Vernay and Raymond Narac from France hold the lead. Jean-Karl Vernay, who contested his first 24 hour race in Le Mans, receives support from Porsche this season in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. The victorious Porsche customer team IMSA Performance Matmut ranks first in the FIA Endurance Trophy for GTE-Am teams.
