As a part of the 2025 Porsche Singapore Classic, pro golfer Paul Casey and the former world class racing driver, Timo Bernhard, met up for a golf lesson at the Laguna National Golf Resort Club. Afterwards, the Brand Ambassadors did some virtual simulator laps around the Nürburgring. The duo enjoyed the time they spent together and were visibly thrilled by each other’s respective skills.

Two top athletes, many things in common and a whole lot of fun: top golfer Paul Casey and Timo Bernhard, member of the FIA Hall of Fame, met up during the 2025 Porsche Singapore Classic and really enjoyed talking about their passions. Casey, the former world No. 3, first gave newcomer Bernhard a first golf lesson. Afterwards, the 2017 Le Mans overall winner revealed some of the secrets behind his historical fastest lap around Nürburgring’s Nordschleife.“He did incredibly well with the golf club. There were some great shots,” raved Casey. “And it wasn’t down to me as I’m not a good coach. He’s obviously a good athlete and simply incredibly curious and capable of putting things into practice very quickly. I’m really proud. That was pretty cool.” Golf pupil Bernhard happily returned the compliments. “Paul was a great coach even though he sees things differently. He gave me some brilliant insights and I really enjoyed it.”

Tips from the Nordschleife record holder
The overjoyed Brand Ambassador duo extended their time together after the golf coaching by popping over to the racing simulator where the two tackled the infamous Nürburgring Nordschleife. In doing so, Casey profited from professional tips given him by Bernhard who, driving a 919 Hybrid Evo in 2018, comfortably beat the decades old lap record set by Stefan Bellof in a time of 5:19,55 minutes.
“Everything Timo does is so precise,” said an impressed Casey who recognised that the game of golf and motorsport have many things in common. “For each of us, perfection is unattainable in our sports. It’s crazy when you think about it. But we’re both the kind of person that keeps learning and always wants to get better. The right mindset plays a huge part in everything we do. We need a perfect preparation and the ideal plan, otherwise nothing will work out. It unites us.”
Bernhard: “It’s not an occupation, it’s what I am”
Bernhard, who is the only Porsche factory driver who counts victories in every offered sportscar category with Porsche, agreed with Casey. “You can always see when somebody is world class. Ultimately, it’s the striving for perfection and an eye for details that’s vital. It’s made obvious by the passion that keeps one motivated for such a long time. When I see Paul on the golf course, I see the sparkle in his eyes. I can identify with that. Motorsport is the thing I love. It’s not a profession. It’s what I am.”
The understanding for one another excited the Brand Ambassador colleagues which in turn led to the wish for a more extensive meeting in the near future. The planning is in full swing. “There’s lots to discuss,” said Casey. And Bernhard added: “A really cool memory.” Now more are to follow.

Get-together with international Porsche customers
As a part of the side events at the Porsche Singapore Classic, the international Porsche guests also experienced the two Brand Ambassadors from close up. In conjunction with the “Driving Tomorrow” series of events in the Porsche Studio Singapore, customers of the brand for example were given enthralling insights into the worlds of golf and motorsport. Also on the podium: Samir Suliman, the coach of the German women’s 3x3 basketball team that won the gold medal at the Olympic Games in Paris. The panel talk was moderated by Deniz Keskin, Director of Brand Management and Partnerships at Porsche AG.
Porsche in golf
Porsche has been involved in golf since 1988 through the Porsche Golf Cup. One of the company’s most successful customer events, the tournament series has developed into an international event in which over 16,000 Porsche customers recently took part in 229 worldwide qualifying tournaments. The sports car manufacturer started its involvement in professional golf in Germany in 2015 when becoming the title sponsor of the DP World Tour’s prestigious Porsche European Open. In order to expand its global activities, Porsche has been acting as the title sponsor of the Porsche Singapore Classic in the important Asian market since 2024. Car partnerships at US PGA Tour and DP World Tour tournaments, such as the Omega European Masters in Crans Montana as well as in women’s golf at The Amundi Evian Championship, round off its worldwide commitment in professional golf. Launched in 2017, the Porsche Golf Circle is also highly successful. The international community for keen golf-playing Porsche customers gives members the opportunity to enjoy exclusive golfing experiences at unique locations and at professional tournaments. Paul Casey has been complementing the Porsche family as the first Brand Ambassador from the game of golf since 2020.
