Porsche celebrates 75 years of motorsport at home E-Prix in Berlin

“Motorsport has shaped our brand for 75 years – and we’re bringing that to life in Berlin,” says Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President Porsche Motorsport. “We are looking forward to a great support programme and hopefully two exciting races. Drivers, teams and manufacturers: Porsche leads all three world championship standings. That is something we aim to defend. We also want to continue pushing in a special classification: with our Racing for Charity initiative, we generate donations for good causes with every lap completed.”
Racing for Charity: additional donation from Formula E
Under the motto “Racing for Charity”, Porsche is making a strong social statement in the current Formula E season, supporting seriously ill children worldwide. For every race lap completed by its two factory-run Porsche 99X Electric, the Stuttgart-based sports car manufacturer donates 400 euros to the charitable organisations Kinderherzen retten e.V., Interplast Germany e.V. and the Ferry Porsche Foundation. After Pascal Wehrlein and Nico Müller completed the maximum number of laps at the sixth race of the season in Madrid, the donation amount stands at 155,200 euros. The Sunday race in Berlin marks the midpoint of the season. Porsche will present the final total after the season finale in mid-August in London.
On the occasion of the Berlin E-Prix, Formula E is joining the effort for a good cause: as part of its Better Futures Fund, the all-electric World Championship is making an additional donation of 25,000 euros. Through this funding programme, Formula E supports charitable organisations and projects in the host countries of its races.
Historic Tempelhof circuit
The temporary racetrack at the former Tempelhof airport is notable for its unique character. Concrete slabs instead of asphalt, different rough surfaces, and thus varying grip levels, are particularly challenging for tyre management. Away from the racing action, Tempelhofer Feld is open to the public. At around 300 hectares, it is one of the biggest inner-city areas of its kind in Europe. Thanks to its convenient location, the Porsche factory team uses the underground between the hotel and the circuit.
The decommissioned airport in Tempelhof has hosted the Berlin E-Prix since 2015, and thus since the Formula E’s maiden season (winter season 2014/2015). With one exception: a detour to Karl-Marx-Allee in 2016. Berlin is the only city to have been a permanent fixture on the race calendar to date. In the past, up to 25,000 spectators have attended the races – including many Porsche employees supporting the factory team from the grandstands at its home event.
Porsche record in Berlin
In 2024, António Félix da Costa secured Porsche’s first home victory in Berlin. On two further occasions, a Porsche factory driver finished on the podium: André Lotterer claimed second place in 2020. Back then, six races were held at the Tempelhof airfield in the space of nine days – the end of the season shaped by the pandemic. Pascal Wehrlein finished second in 2025.

Races 7 and 8 of the season get underway at 16:05 local time (CEST) on 2 and 3 May respectively, qualifying starts at 11:40 local time on both days (CEST).
