- Nine teams with 30 drivers in the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland
- ProAm victory for Iserlohn’s Sören Spreng (D/GP Elite)
- Successful event at the Red Bull Ring alongside the DTM
Starting from pole position, Schuring takes the lead at the beginning of the 30-minute race. Up to the halfway point, Amand runs second, followed by Masters. On lap 12, Masters seizes his opportunity and overtakes Amand. Shortly before the end of the race, the safety car was deployed and the race finished under safety car conditions. “As Team Proton Competition, we had a strong race weekend. Personally, things went very well for me too with the overall lead,” said Masters. The South African, who enjoys playing golf in his spare time and applies the mental skills he has learned there to motorsport, has finished on the podium in all four races so far. Three second places and one third place underline his consistent points haul.
Although the fourth race on the 4.326-kilometre Formula 1 circuit does not bring Tauscher a podium result, the Bavarian gains one position on the first lap and collects valuable points in fourth place. Talent Pool driver Joseph Warhurst (UK/Target) finishes fifth. Oeverhaus from Osnabrück, who secured two wins at the season opener in Imola, comes home sixth, ahead of Brazil’s Matheus Ferreira (Team GP Elite) and Wouter Boerekamps (Team GP Elite) from the Netherlands. Luxembourg’s Chester Kieffer claims the Rookie podium as the best-placed newcomer. The ProAm trophy goes to Sören Spreng (D/GP Elite).
“As a support series during the DTM weekend, we were pleased to see well-filled grandstands and many fans in the paddock at the Red Bull Ring. Saturday’s race was an example of the competitiveness in the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland. Sunday was slightly calmer. We were also pleased that Laurin Heinrich stopped by. In 2022, he won the Carrera Cup, became a Porsche Junior and is now a Porsche factory driver. That’s a real success story from our one-make cup,” says Thorsten Rückert, Project Manager Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland.
After a two-weekend break, the drivers head to the next round of the season: races five and six will take place at the legendary Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. From 15 to 17 May, the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland will compete as part of the International GT Open. Fans can already look forward to unpredictable weather conditions in the Ardennes, where heavy rain, sunshine and even hail showers can occur within a short period of time. Luxembourg’s Chester Kieffer (Schumacher CLRT) has the shortest journey to Belgium: the Talent Pool driver lives just around 100 kilometres from Spa.
