- Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland at the International GT Open
- ProAm trophy for GP Elite driver Sören Spreng
- Strongest recovery drive by Porsche Junior Marcus Amand
A total of 32 new Porsche 911 Cup cars created a spectacular atmosphere as they climbed Eau Rouge after the start. Schuring managed to defend his lead, while Oeverhaus moved up from third to second place behind him. Ferreira, the 19-year-old Brazilian, had to settle for third position. The drivers brought their podium positions home with a highly focused performance. Alexander Tauscher (D/Target) crossed the line in fourth place ahead of Wouter Boerekamps (NL/Team GP Elite). Social media personalities Gustav Burton (UK/Forch Racing by Atlas Ward) and Dirk Schouten (NL/Looping by CarTech) collected valuable championship points in sixth and seventh place respectively. Chester Kieffer (L/Schumacher CLRT) finished eighth overall and was also the best rookie. Sören Spreng (D/GP Elite) received the trophy for first place in the ProAm classification on the podium from Thorsten Rückert, Project Manager Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland.
The strongest recovery drive came from Porsche Junior Marcus Amand (Proton Competition). Amand, who competes under the Finnish flag, started the fifth race from 32nd place following an issue in qualifying and finished the race in eleventh place. The unlucky driver of the day was championship leader Keagan Masters (ZA/Proton Competition), who was forced to retire his car: after the first lap, Masters’ driver’s door could no longer be fully closed, forcing him to return to the pits without scoring points. As a result, Oeverhaus moved to the top of the standings. The driver from Osnabrück leads the championship after five of 16 races with 80 points. Tauscher sits second on 78 points ahead of Masters on 76.
“On this very technical circuit, you have to stay fully concentrated throughout the entire race. I managed to do that behind Flynt. Now I’ll first watch the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring on screen before focusing again on Sunday,” explained Oeverhaus. The sixth race will start on Sunday at 11:25 am on the 7.004-kilometre Formula 1 circuit. Fans can follow all the one-make cup action live on YouTube and via the Porsche Motorsport Hub livestream.
